Dana Ziskrout, O.D.
Born in Los Angeles, California, Dr. Ziskrout attended California State University, Los Angeles, majoring in Biological Sciences. He earned numerous academic awards including the Golden Key National Honor Society. Transferring to Pacific University, in Oregon, he graduated in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Vision Science. In 1997, Dr. Ziskrout earned his Doctorate in Optometry from Pacific University College of Optometry. At Pacific, he received several academic and clinical honors. While doing a clinical rotation at the San Diego Naval Hospital, the Naval Commander recognized Dr. Ziskrout’s contributions to the servicemen and servicewomen with a letter of commendation. In the area of pediatrics and binocular vision, his doctoral thesis research pioneered new areas into Attention Deficit Disorder and its potential relationship with eye movements and understanding their complex relationships. As a result, Dr. Ziskrout was invited and presented his research at the American Academy of Optometry, Orlando, Florida.

Post-graduate, Dr. Ziskrout accepted an adjunct clinical faculty position from the University of Houston College of Optometry (UHCO). Prior to that, he served as Chief Resident during his Family Practice Residency at UHCO, which is when he met his future wife and business partner, Dr. Katie Pham. Dr. Ziskrout has been the focus of a multi–part series on Channel 8, Houston’s Public Television Medical Monday program. For many years he served as a distinguished member on the National Board of Examiners in Optometry (NBEO) as a Senior Supervising Clinical Examiner. In support of optometry, he has given testimony at the State Capitol in Austin, Texas to The House of Representatives regarding optometric laws. As a result, the bill he lobbied for passed, and was signed into law by the governor.

Dr. Ziskrout is recognized as an expert in fitting unique eyes that require complex contact lens designs to improve their challenged vision (such as keratoconus, corneal transplants, RK surgery, corneal trauma, etc.). He is certified as a Paragon CRT specialist, able to reshape corneas via special-designed rigid gas permeable lenses that allow the patient to see throughout the day without wearing glasses or contact lenses.

He enjoys treating and managing eye infections & injuries, dry eyes & allergy eyes, and since 1998 has co-managed LASIK, cataract, and glaucoma surgeries. One of his career highlights includes 7+ years working hand in hand with a select few of Houston’s premier ophthalmologists.

Dr. Ziskrout is an honorably discharged sergeant with the United States Air National Guard. His longtime hobby is TaeKwon-Do (TKD)and is a 4th degree black belt. He has competed and won gold and silver medals at each of the past four United States National ITF TaeKwon-Do Qualifiers which resulted in him earning a spot on TEAM USA TaeKwon-Do, representing America in several world championship TKD events.

Dr. Ziskrout and his lovely and funny wife, Dr. Pham, are blessed with three totally awesome children; A gift greater than vision.

Katie Pham, O.D.
Dr. Pham completed her undergraduate studies in 1995 at Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas, majoring in engineering and biochemistry. In 1999, she graduated from the University of Houston College of Optometry with her doctorate degree in optometry. Post graduation, she began her career working with a well-known Houston based refractive surgeon successfully managing many thousands of LASIK and PRK patients. In addition, Dr. Pham worked for the National Board of Examiners in Optometry (NBEO) as a clinical examiner. In 2002, Dr. Pham and her husband, Dr. Dana Ziskrout, opened their private optometry practice in Cypress, Texas; Eye Trends-Barker Cypress.

Dr. Pham co-manages several modalities of refractive surgery (LASIK, PRK, and ICL), cataract surgery, and lens replacement procedures (clear lensectomy). She is an accomplished diagnostician in treating and managing eye infections and injuries, dry and allergic eyes.

She is certified, based upon strict FDA requirements, to perform Corneal Refractive Therapy (CRT). Her consistent compassion and off-the-wall humor to her patients are well received and ever so appreciated by all. Outside of the office, Dr. Pham and her husband are very proud parents of three super kids. Dr. Pham and her kids are actively involved with Alpha Charity League and National Charity League doing volunteer work with local charities.

Huy (Tommy) Nguyen, O.D.
Dr. Nguyen graduated with a B.S. degree in biochemical and biophysical sciences from the University of Houston and he received his Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Incarnate Word Rosenberg School of Optometry. He has trained clinically at Eye Center of Texas under several leading ophthalmologists and optometrists specializing in ocular diseases and co-managing both refractive and cataract surgeries. He also trained clinically at Fort Sam Houston Army base providing primary and urgent eye care for the honorable men and women serving our Country. At Eye Trends Barker Cypress he focuses on dry eye management, specialty soft and rigid gas permeable contact lenses, corneal refractive therapy (CRT), glaucoma management, and both refractive and cataract surgery co-management.

He is an active member of the American Optometric Association and the Texas Optometric Association. During his free time, he loves to spend time with his two daughters and wife, and he enjoys travel, outdoor camping, volunteering at his church, and being a “Foodie” at Houston’s great restaurants.

Shelby Gross, O.D.
Dr. Shelby Gross received her Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience at Tulane University, and her Doctor of Optometry at the University of Houston College of Optometry, graduating Magna Cum Laude from both institutions. After graduation, she completed a residency at the VA Portland Health Care System in Portland, Oregon, where she specialized in primary eye care, treatment and management of ocular disease, and low vision.

She is a licensed Therapeutic Optometrist and Optometric Glaucoma Specialist in Texas. Dr. Gross has been taking care of patients in Cinco Ranch since early 2017 and specializes in specialty contact lenses such as scleral lenses and lenses for myopia control as well as day to day primary eye care.

Ali Mostaghimi, O.D.
Dr. Mostaghimi graduated from The Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 2007, where he received his Doctor of Optometry and Bachelor of Science degrees. He is also an alumnus of The University of Houston where he received his Bachelor of Science in Biology, with minor in Psychology in 2003.

Dr. Mostaghimi’s clinical experiences have taken him all over the country. He completed his doctorate degree at The Eye Institute in Philadelphia, where he gained tremendous experience in managing patients with glaucoma, those with ocular problems associated with diabetes and hypertension, and low vision patients in the William Feinbloom Vision Rehabilitation Center.

His studies have also taken him on clinical rotations in La Jolla, California where he gained valuable expertise on Specialty Contacts and Laser Vision Correction; and to Phoenix, Arizona, at The Phoenix Indian Medical Center, where he gained even more experience in managing patients with diabetic retinopathy, uveitis, and other ocular emergencies.

Dr. Mostaghimi is certified by the National Board of Examiners in Optometry. He also holds a certification in the Treatment and Management of Ocular Disease. He is a licensed Therapeutic Optometrist and an Optometric Glaucoma Specialist in Texas.

Maxwell Olumba, O.D.
Dr. Maxwell Olumba provides primary eye care services at our Corinthian Pointe office in Houston, Texas. As a therapeutic optometrist and optometric glaucoma specialist, Dr. Olumba performs comprehensive vision examinations including glaucoma, cataract, and retinal evaluations. Also, he provides treatment of eye infections and injuries.

Since 2001, Dr. Maxwell Olumba has been practicing full-scope optometry in southwest Houston, in the Windsor Village community. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in biomedical sciences from Texas A&M University in 1996. He then earned a Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Houston College of Optometry in 2000. He is an experienced Therapeutic Optometrist and Optometric Glaucoma Specialist.

Dr. Olumba has been married for many happy years and has been blessed with three beautiful daughters. When not in the office, he enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf, and reading.

Rokeisha Joseph, O.D.
A Louisiana native, Dr. Rokeisha Joseph earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Southern University and A & M College. She completed her doctoral studies at the University of Houston College of Optometry in May 2012. She has been apart of the MEC Corinthian Pointe family since 2012 and is committed to providing excellent eye care for the growing communities of Windsor Village and southwest Houston. Outside of work, she enjoys exploring Houston with her husband and 4 children.
Ruby Philip, O.D.
Dr. Ruby Philip is a Houston native and lives in the Missouri City area. She is an alumnus of the University of Houston and also graduated with her Doctorate of Optometry from UH in 2014. She’s been a valuable eye care provider at MEC Corinthian Point for over 3 years. She has experience in routine eye care, contact lenses, pediatric optometry, treatment, and management of eye diseases such as glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy. On her free time she enjoys Houston sports, live music, and traveling with her family and friends.

Linda Enciso, O.D.
A Houston native, Dr. Linda Enciso performed her undergraduate studies at the university of texas at austin, prior to earning her doctorate of optometry, Magna Cum Laude, from the University of Houston College of Optometry in 2006. During the course of her optometric studies, Dr. Enciso completed a clinical rotation at the Veterans’ Administration hospital in Spokane, Washington, were she received supplemental training in the fields of ocular pathology and geriatric eyecare. Dr. Enciso is known for her patient chair-side manner and her tenacious perseverance in developing solutions to complex ocular conditions. Dr. Enciso has been with Memorial Eye Center since 2007.

Among her favorite experiences, Dr. Enciso recounts scuba diving in Cairns, surfing in Hawaii, watching the sun set from the Sydney Opera House and providing optometric humanitarian aid to remote villages in Honduras. She is an avid snowboarder and especially appreciates the slopes on Mount Bachelor in Oregon. Her favorite leisure activities are biking, eating desserts and hanging out with her husband and two dogs, Monty and Hugo.

Jolynn Hoang, O.D.
Originally from victoria, Texas, Dr. Jolynn Hoang performed her undergraduate studies while attending the University of Notre Dame at South Bend, where she earned a bachelor of arts in music history, literature, and theory.  Following her multifaceted experience with the fighting irish, Dr. Hoang returned to Texas and earned a doctorate of optometry, magna cum laude, from the University of Houston College of Optometry.  During the course of her optometric studies, Dr. Hoang completed clinical rotations with both Northeastern State University’s Oklahoma College of Optometry and the Cedar Springs Eye Clinic, where she received specialized training in the management of systemic disease and acute primary eye care.  Dr. Hoang, who is known for her warm and friendly chair-side manner and distinct aptitude for the management of ocular diseases, is delighted to be the newest member of Memorial Eye Center’s exceptional team of eye care specialists.

Among her various pastime interests, Dr. Hoang is a skincare and milk tea enthusiast, enjoys hand lettering and baking, and rarely misses an opportunity to indulge in her husband’s culinary abilities.  As a proud Notre Dame alumnus, Dr. Hoang is an enthusiastic supporter of the fighting irish football program.  Dr. Hoang is available for english and spanish language exams.

Amelia Holbrook, O.D.
Dr. Amelia Holbrook founded Memorial Eye Center in 1990 with the mission forming a team of independent doctors and optometric professionals, united in a commitment to provide exceptional eye health exams and customized eyewear solutions. Raised in Killeen, Texas, Dr. Holbrook studied biochemistry and genetics at Texas A&M University prior to earning her doctorate of optometry, magna cum laude, from the University of Houston College of Optometry. Dr. Holbrook has extensive experience in virtually all aspects of optometry and is a leader at incorporating new technologies to advance the proficiency of comprehensive eyecare. She has a particular passion for specialty and complicated contact lenses and pediatric visual development.

Dr. Holbrook has held various positions on the board of the Harris County Optometric Society and has provided optometric humanitarian aid in Guatemala. During her spare time, Dr. Holbrook enjoys “clean” nutritional cooking, gardening, photography, country and western dancing, and has a fondness for animals of all shapes and sizes. Dr. Holbrook is available for english and spanish language exams.

Emily Porier, O.D.
Dr. Emily Porier spent her early years traveling as an “army brat”, before finally settling down in Killeen, Texas. Following high school in Killeen, Dr. Porier performed her undergraduate studies at the University of Texas at Austin. With a special emphasis in neuro-ophthalmic disorders, Dr. Porier received her doctorate of optometry in 1994, magna cum laude, from the University of Houston College of Optometry. Upon the award of her doctorate, Dr. Porier joined Memorial Eye Center, where she has consistently set the standard in providing comprehensive eyecare for more than 18 years. Dr. porier has a wide range of experience and excels at providing full scope family eyecare, with a special interest in pediatric vision and the unique challenges presented with maintaining healthy eyes in children.

Dr. Porier resides in Katy and is an enthusiastic member of the Katy community. She often volunteers for school vision screenings and band booster functions, and is actively involved in her church. While an avid Texans and Rockets supporter, Dr. Porier’s favorite leisure activity is spending quality time with her husband and two daughters.

John Tavares, O.D.
Originally from warren, Michigan, Dr. John Tavares relocated to Houston in 1995. Dr. Tavares began his undergraduate studies at Wayne State University in Detroit, and later at the University of Houston, before going on to earn his doctorate of optometry from the University of Houston College of Optometry in 2003. While at the college of optometry, Dr. Tavares received supplemental clinical training in the area of complex medical eye conditions and surgical solutions. Although Dr. Tavares enjoys providing general eye health exams and fitting contact lenses, he has a well-earned reputation for developing exacting solutions to complex eye conditions and has a particular interest in preventive care and ocular health maintenace. Dr. Tavares has been affiliated with Memorial Eye Center since his relocation to houston in 1995.

Dr. Tavares is an ardent sports fan and can often be found in the stands at an Astros, Texans or Aeros game. He passionately follows the Detroit Red Wings and rarely misses an Astros’ spring training in Florida. Dr. Tavares also enjoys participating in fundraisers, especially at Hollibrook Elementary School where his wife is an educator. Dr. Tavares is available for english and spanish language exams.

Kim To, O.D.
A life-long houstonian, Dr. Kim to attended the University of Houston for her undergraduate studies, where she received a bachelor of science, magna cum laude, before going on to earn her doctorate of optometry, with honors, from the university of Houston College of Optometry in 2005. During the course of her optometric studies, Dr. To completed clinical rotations at the Veterans’ Administration Hospitals in both Quantico, Virginia and San Antonio, Texas, were she received supplemental training in the diagnosis and treatment of diverse medical conditions of the eye. Dr. to has been with Memorial Eye Center since 2006 and is well known for her thoughtful and compassionate approach to patient care. Dr. to is an aspiring “foodie” who enjoys not only the consumption, but also the study and preparation of a variety of foods. She is an avid traveler, with a particular fondness for Melbourne, Australia, and loves attending festivals with her husband, daughter, son and dog rusty. Dr. to is an enthusiastic advocate for literacy volunteers of america and has spent many years teaching english as a second language. Dr. to is available for english, spanish and vietnamese language exams.
Esther Kovacs, O.D.
Dr. Kovacs graduated from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. While at St. Mary’s she held numerous leadership positions in organizations such as Tri-Beta National Biological Honor Society and Delta Zeta Sorority.

After college, she attended 4 years at the University of Houston , College of Optometry , where she earned her Doctor of Optometry degree. She now is a licensed therapeutic and glaucoma specialist. Her externship training was in both Albuquerque at the VA Hospital and San Antonio at Lackland Air Force base. These sites allowed her to gain the knowledge and skill to treat a variety of pathologies and complicated ocular abnormalities.

The Vision Care Institute in Jacksonville , Florida has also recognized Dr. Kovacs as a specialist in contact lens fitting for astigmatism (Toric) and bifocal contact lenses. Her extensive training in Florida provided the knowledge to successfully fit the most challenging contact lens patients. She also specializes in the management of laser vision correction, cataract surgery, and common ocular conditions such as dry eye, eye infections, corneal foreign bodies, glaucoma, diabetes, and macular degeneration.

Dr. Kovacs is a member of the Harris County Optometric Society. She resides in Houston with her husband Jason and son Logan. When she is not working, Dr. Kovacs enjoys traveling, relaxing by the pool, and spending time with family in Florida.

Kim Chau, O.D.
Dr. Kim Chau received her Doctor of Optometry from the University of the Incarnate Word Rosenberg School of Optometry and received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Houston Baptist University. Her clinical externships include the VA Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida, where she received specialized training in ocular disease management, eye emergencies, and managing low vision patients.

Dr. Chau has participated in yearly mission trips as her way to give back to the community. Near the south Texas border, she volunteered with RAM Lone Star Mission and has also traveled to Guatemala to serve villagers at the ASELSI clinic. Dr. Chau has also held a leadership position for the American Optometric Association as the local political action committee liaison, helping to advance the optometric profession’s legislative rights.

Dr. Chau is a Therapeutic Optometrist and Optometric Glaucoma Specialist certified by the Texas Optometry Board in the treatment and management of ocular disease. She practices full scope optometry which includes diagnosing and managing glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and corneal diseases. She also co-manages procedures such as LASIK and cataract surgery.

In her time away from the office, Dr. Chau enjoys traveling, trying new restaurants, playing tennis, and spending time with friends and family.

Dianne Dao, O.D.

Dr. Dianne Dao is a graduate of the University of Texas at Dallas with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology/Biology. She was awarded a Clinical Letter of Excellence after completion of her doctorate degree from the University of Houston College of Optometry.

For her internship, Dr. Dao received clinical training at the Herman Eye Center where she worked closely with several ophthalmologists specializing in retinal pathologies, glaucoma, corneal disorders/diseases, neurological diseases, and oculoplasty. Dr. Dao also trained at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, where she was involved in providing eye care for cancer patients undergoing radiation treatment.

In addition, Dr.Dao received training at The Coastal Eye Associates, an optometric and opthalmologic practice in Clear Lake, Texas. She gained considerable knowledge and experience in management and treatment of red eyes and ocular diseases as well as co-management of cataract and refractive surgeries.

Dr.Dao also trained at The Space Center Eye Associates in Clear Lake, where she provided comprehensive eye exams to all age groups and gained excellent knowledge in contact lens fitting including keratoconus. Dr. Dao also gained unique experience examining and screening astronaut candidates for NASA.

Since 1999, Dr.Dao and her staff has provided eyecare for the Pearland community, specializing in family eye care; computer vision syndrome (CVS), management and treatment of ocular diseases; fitting of all types of contact lenses including soft and rigid gas permeable bifocal contacts; and different types of refractive surgeries.

Dr.Dao is an active member of the American Optometric Association and the Texas Optometric Association. She had served as the Treasurer for the Harris County Optometric Association and as an examiner for the National Board of Optometry. She is involved with various community activities including conducting vision screening and presenting educational seminars to private and public schools in Pearland. She is committed to raising public awareness of the importance of good vision as a critical tool in a child’s education. Dr.Dao is an active member of the Pearland, Friendswood, and Manvel/Alvin Chamber of Commerce.

Dr.Dao, and her husband Lee, have four boys and live in Pearland. She enjoys cooking, shopping, exercising, church activities, and raising her family in the fast-growing community of Pearland.

Phuong Nguyen, O.D.
Dr. Phuong Dung Nguyen is a therapeutic optometrist and certified Optometric Glaucoma Specialist. She holds a Doctor of Optometry from the University of Houston College of Optometry and a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Psychology, which she received with honors.

Dr. Nguyen’s clinical training at the University Eye Institute (UEI) included rotations in the sub-specialties of low vision, pediatrics vision care, contact lenses, glaucoma treatment, and ocular diagnosis and management. While at UEI, Dr. Nguyen received specialty training in Special Needs Adult and Pediatric Service (SNAPS) focusing on kids and adults with Down syndrome, autism, cerebral palsy, or persons with developmental delays. Dr. Nguyen also completed specialty training with Dr. Rosa Tang in the Multiple Sclerosis Eye Clinic managing the ocular health of patients with multiple sclerosis and autoimmune conditions. Her special fields of interest include pediatrics, fitting multifocal contact lenses, and cataract and refractive surgery co-management.

As a volunteer with See to Succeed, a program that provides glasses for children in need, Dr. Nguyen provides comprehensive vision and ocular exams for children in low-income families.
Practicing since 2014, Dr. Nguyen became an optometrist because she believes in the importance of sight. Although not everyone’s vision can be corrected to 20/20, she does her best to help enhance her patients’ quality of life by listening to their visual needs and goals. She enjoys interacting with patients, getting to know each of them as individuals, and loves helping her patients understand more about their ocular health. As a past LASIK patient herself, she can walk her patients through every step of the process.

Dr. Nguyen grew up in Friendswood, Texas, and has worked in the Pearland area since graduation. She now resides in Rosharon with her husband and two kids where her hobbies include tennis, trying new restaurants, and spending time with family.

Jeffrey M. Penn, O.D.


Dr. Jeffrey Penn received his Doctor of Optometry from the University of Houston College of Optometry in 1981. A native of Houston, Dr. Penn has been in practice since 1981, and is a licensed Therapeutic Optometrist and Glaucoma Specialist as well as an active member of the American Optometric Association and the Texas Optometric Association. His special fields of interest include contact lens fittings and the treatment of external eye diseases.

Dr. Penn says his favorite part of the job is building upon the close relationships he has developed with his patients and their families, some of whom have been coming to him for more than 30 years. Dr. Penn has enjoyed seeing his patients’ children grow into young adults and, in some cases, is now seeing their children. Knowing how important clear vision is in our everyday lives, Dr. Penn appreciates the opportunities he has had to help improve the lives of many school-age children, college students and adults during his career.

Outside of the office, Dr. Penn, who is also known as a “foodie”, enjoys spending time with his family and friends, and vacationing in the mountains of Colorado.

Manvi Madhok, O.D.

Dr. Manvi Madhok attended Optometry School at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. She has been practicing optometry since 2017 and is a licensed Therapeutic Optometrist and Optometric Glaucoma Specialist. Dr. Madhok also holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.

Growing up, Dr. Madhok was drawn to this profession – in part – because of the positive experience she had with her own Optometrist that left a lasting impression on her.

She inspired her to pursue the field and to provide the utmost care for her patients the way she did hers. When asked what her favorite thing about being an Optometrist is, she said, “I love that every day is different, and is another day I get to care for my patients.”

Hiral Mehta, O.D.

Dr. Hiral Mehta is a therapeutic optometrist and an optometric glaucoma specialist. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin in Biology and then a doctorate from the University of Houston College of Optometry with training in pediatrics, low vision, primary care and specialty contact lenses.

She completed her optometric training at the Northeastern State University College of Optometry where she received extensive training in diagnosis and treatment of ocular diseases such as glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and other anterior and posterior segment diseases. She is also trained on LASIK co-management and cataract pre and post-op care. Dr. Mehta also served an indigent population at La Nueva Casa de Amigos clinic in Houston as part of her optometric training where she learned to speak Spanish and received further training on treatment and management of ocular diseases and contact lenses.

She is very thorough in her examinations and provides proper treatment plans tailored for each individual. Away from the office, Dr.Mehta enjoys spending time with her family (especially with her nieces and nephews!).

Kris Patel, O.D.
Dr. Kris Patel was born and grew up in a small town in East Texas. He is licensed by the Texas Optometry Board to practice as a therapeutic optometrist and an optometric glaucoma specialist. He earned his octorate degree from the University Of Houston College Of Optometry with honors in 2009. Dr. Patel completed an internship at Bridge Builders Eye Clinic in Dallas, Texas, where he was trained on how to diagnose and treat various diseases of the eye. He also completed an internship at Alamo Eye Care in San Antonio, Texas where he received extensive training in fitting of contact lenses and laser vision correction. Dr. Patel has worked with an ophthalmologist in Lubbock, Texas where he furthered his knowledge in pediatrics, eye disease and surgery, laser vision correction, as well as sports vision.

Dr. Patel was a committee member of the Texas Optometric Association, previously president of the Student Texas Optometric Association, and a Gold Key Honors Graduate.

Dr. Patel begins each examination with a thorough assessment of the patients’ needs and concerns. He is able to tailor the eye examination for each patient and provide personalized treatment options, eyewear, and/or contact lenses that will provide the best vision and comfort.

In his spare time, Dr. Patel enjoys participating and watching football and basketball games, and spending time with his family. He also competes in half marathons yearly in support of various diseases.

Robert Flanders, O.D.
Dr. Robert Flanders is originally from the small town of Chautauqua in Western New York State. He moved to Texas in 1975 to pursue a career in environmental science. In 1983, he decided to change careers and was accepted at the University of Houston College of Optometry. After completing optometry school, he began work at a busy ophthalmology practice at St. Joseph Hospital where he assisted in the Early Treatment of Diabetes Study and co-authored an article which appeared in “Texas Optometry” in May 1988.

Dr. Flanders holds membership in the American and Texas Optometric Associations. He served on the Harris County Optometry Society Board from 2001 through 2002.  A wide variety of eye care is offered at the Rice Village location, including normal and specialized contact lens fitting, pediatric eye care, and surgical evaluations. Dr. Flanders is credentialed at The Eye Center of Texas.  Laser surgery is provided to his patients at this facility for the correction of nearsightedness (myopia), farsightedness (hyperopia) and astigmatism.

Dr. Flanders and his wife Annie have two young boys, Andrew and Matthew.  Interests include a variety of sports including tennis, water sports and fishing.

David Sims, O.D.
Dr. David Sims is from Tennessee where he earned his undergraduate degree in Biology for the Health Sciences at Maryville College. Following graduation, he worked two years at the Tennessee School for the Deaf as a council or where he became proficient in American Sign Language. Dr. Sims moved to Texas in 1997 to attend the highly-ranked University of Houston College of Optometry.

During his clinical rotation service at the Golden Eye Clinic in East Texas, Dr. Sims received externship training in primary eye care with emphasis on glaucoma, ocular pathology and trauma. Additional externship training was with glaucoma sub-specialists at Houston Eye Associates where further experience was gained in the management of glaucoma and ocular disease. He provided eye care as a Harris County Hospital District Katrina Volunteer and is currently a member of the Texas Optometric Association and Harris County Optometric Society. Primary family eye care is the focus of the practice, but you should know that Dr. Sims is also attentive to all medical conditions that affect your eyes such as diabetes, hypertension, neurological disorders and vascular disease. You will be warmly welcomed by Dr. Sims who takes great care to address concerns during your exam so that you feel satisfied and confident with the high level of thorough care you receive.

Dr. Sims spends spare time enjoying travel, reading, music, art, film, and any other creative diversion he can find.

Saira Kurjee, O.D.
Born and raised in Houston, Dr. Saira Kurjee graduated Cum Laude from Baylor University with a Bachelor of Science in Forensics and received her Doctorate of Optometry from the University of Houston College of Optometry, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude.Dr. Kurjee currently specializes in eye diseases, including Diabetic Retinopathy, Glaucoma, Age Related Macular Degeneration, and Dry Eye Syndrome. She will also offer services for routine eye exams, specialty contact lens fittings, and LASIK evaluations.When not working, Dr. Kurjee enjoys spending time with her enormous family, traveling, cooking tasty cuisines, and practicing yoga. She’s always up for trying different restaurants and hopes to get another Yorkie one day!
Vinh Nguyen, O.D.
Dr. Vinh Nguyen completed his undergraduate schooling at Trinity University in San Antonio where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and Neuroscience.  He furthered his education by obtaining a Doctorate of Optometry Degree from University of Houston College of Optometry. He has been practicing optometry since 2014, and has been with Crown Vision Center since early 2017. Dr. Nguyen decided to become an optometrist because his brother is an optometrist and he wanted to follow in his footsteps. Today, his favorite part is just getting to meet new people each day.
Thomas P. Arnold, O.D.

Dr. Tom Arnold is a graduate of the University of Houston College of Optometry. During his training he participated in vision outreach programs in Mexico, Guatemala and with the Bureau of the Indian Health Service. Dr. Arnold spent two years as a research assistant for the Early Treatment Diabetic Retinopathy Study (ETDRS) at the University of Texas Medical School in Houston.

Dr. Arnold is passionate about scleral contact lenses and their ability to help patients struggling with compromised vision related to the cornea. He is a Fellow of the Scleral Lens Education Society and an associate member of the International Society of Contact Lens Specialists. Dr. Arnold, along with Dr. Melissa Barnett, are co-chairs of the International Congress of Scleral Contacts (ICSC), the first meeting in the world dedicated solely to scleral contact lenses. They also host a monthly podcast, GlobalEyes, where they speak with practitioners from around the world.

A member of the Gas-Permeable Lens Institute Advisory Board, he is a contributing columnist to Contact Lens Spectrum and Review of Optometric Business.

An international speaker, he has presented in Russia, Poland, India, Jordan, South Africa, Colombia, Mexico, Italy, the UK, Australia and at major meetings in the US.

Dr. Arnold is in private, group practice – Memorial Eye Center Sugar Land- in Sugar Land, Texas.

Michael Everson, O.D.
Dr. Everson received his optometry degree in 2019 from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. During his first externship he focused on retinal pathology, glaucoma and post operative care at the Eye Centers of South Florida in Miami. He then trained with Dr. Arnold in Sugar Land, TX focusing on specialized contact lens and primary care. Upon graduation from optometry school, Dr. Everson completed a residency at University of Alabama- Birmingham in specialty contact lenses, soft lenses and sports vision. He obtained his Bachelor of Science from University of Missouri in 2015 with honors.
Jocelyn S. Horiszny, O.D.
Dr. Jocelyn S. Horiszny has been in private practice and an associate of Memorial Eye Center at Sugar Land since 1999. Dr. Horiszny specializes in primary eye care and contact lens fitting. She is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of the University of Houston College of Optometry and holds a BA in Biology with honors from the University of Texas at Austin. During her training at the University of Houston she presented and co-authored a research publication at the American Academy of Optometry. Dr. Horiszny completed an externship at the Hermann Eye Center in Houston where she concentrated on retinal pathology. She also was an extern at Evans Army Community Hospital in Fort Carson, Colorado where she focused on primary eye care.
Joseph A. Janes, O.D.
Joseph A. Janes, OD, FAAO, is a therapeutic optometrist specializing in performing comprehensive eye examinations for the diagnosis and treatment of ocular disease, including the pre and post-operative care of cataract and refractive surgery patients. Dr. Janes has participated in numerous clinical trials and FDA studies for corneal inlays, and contact lens design and solutions. He has considerable experience treating post-operative complications and prescribing contact lenses to remediate a variety of ocular conditions such as keratoconus and dry eye syndrome. He is also proficient in utilizing state-of-the-art diagnostic testing to analyze candidacy for LASIK, cataract surgery, Orthokeratology and for the treatment of glaucoma. His career spans over thirty years of private practice, research, and educating professionals. Dr. Janes finished his seventh consecutive term as President of the Harris County Optometric Society in 2008 and served on the society’s board of directors for twelve years. In a ddition, his diverse experience includes serving in a senior management capacity for a prominent laser vision correction facility and assisting in the design of medical records software programs. He is presently an adjunct Associate Clinical Professor at the University of Houston, College of Optometry. His scientific articles and papers have appeared in numerous professional publications.
Hamida Hemani, O.D.
Dr. Hamida Hemani received her Bachelor and Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Houston. Her postgraduate training includes a residency in pediatrics and binocular vision from the Southern California College of Optometry.

In addition she has received training for Houston Eye Associated and Bellaire Eye Associated providing pre- and post-op cataract, glaucoma and refractive surgical care.

Dr. Hemani is a clinical faculty member at the University of Houston College of Optometry.

Reza Farahani. O.D.
Dr. Reza Farahani graduated with honors from the University of Houston – College of Optometry in 1992, and  completed a residency and internship rotation at Houston Eye Clinic, now Berkeley Eye Center.

Dr Farahani welcomes patients with a variety of refractive and medical conditions ie Lasik evaluations, Glaucoma management, effects of Diabetes and/or Hypertension on ocular health, etc.

Dr. Farahani is a member of the American Optometric Association, Texas Optometric Association, Harris County Optometric Association, among others.
